Fuerte avocado

Why the Tanzanian Fuerte avocado

Our Tanzanian Fuerte Avocados are prized for their smooth, thin green skin and exceptional flavor profile. Unlike Hass, the Fuerte skin remains green even when fully ripe, making it distinct on the shelf. The flesh is pale green, creamy, and holds a slightly lower oil content than Hass, offering a lighter, more delicate taste.
Cultivated in the earlier harvesting zones of Tanzania, our Fuerte variety is often the first to reach the market, bridging the gap before the main export season begins. Its pear-like shape and smooth texture make it a preferred choice for specific markets in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Understanding Fuerte avocado seasons in Tanzania

The Fuerte is our “season opener,” harvested earlier than the main Hass crop. This provides buyers with fresh supply during the early months of the year.
-Early Harvest (January): Selective picking begins in lower altitude zones.
-Peak Volume (February): The main harvest window where volume and quality are highest.
-Late Season (March): Final harvest overlaps with the beginning of the Hass season.

Our Quality assurance

Fuerte’s smooth skin is more sensitive than Hass, requiring stricter physical handling protocols in our packhouse.
-Gentle Harvesting: Pickers use specialized canvas bags to prevent skin abrasion in the field.
-Soft Grading: Our processing line is calibrated for “soft fruit” handling to eliminate impact damage.
-Cold Chain: Maintained at slightly higher temperatures (6°C – 7°C) compared to Hass to prevent chilling injury while maintaining freshness.
-Compliance: Full phytosanitary certification and residue testing provided with every shipment.
